Make the right choice for your clothes with these useful tips.
Laundry is a tedious task, but modern washing machines make this chore much easier than years before. As well as a range of washers and dryers, there are thousands of different laundry detergent formulas on the market. Although everyone loves the scent of fresh laundry, there’s more to consider than whether to get a citrus or lavender smell. Choosing the right laundry products requires looking at a number of factors.
Type of laundry machines: Check to see if the laundry detergent is compatible with the type of laundry machine you are using. If you use a high-efficiency washing machine, be sure to use high-efficiency detergent to prevent over-foaming that may damage the machine. For a regular washing machine, use regular laundry detergent.
Water temperature: Certain detergents are better suited for different water temperature cycles. Cold water laundry detergent is formulated to work best in cooler cycles. Remember to check clothing labels to determine which washing cycle is recommended.
Sensitivity: Dye-free detergent, fragrance-free detergent, and hypoallergenic laundry detergent formulas are alterative choices for those who have sensitives. Choose baby detergent made specifically for washing infant clothing so that it doesn’t irritate skin.
Amount: It’s incredibly important not to add too much soap into the machine, as it could end up leaving your clothes coated in detergent and may damage the machine. Additionally, thick soap is not good for your clothes or the machine, either. Depending on the size of your laundry, you may need to add more or less detergent into the machine. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to measure out the proper amount of detergent. Aim to add the detergent before adding the clothing to allow it to properly dissolve.
